Hi, I'd like to comment on international release of 's music. I completely sure that if he released it in USA, he would get a huge success. Really, people here like that kind of music. Somehow, in a matter of 2 years, most teenagers started requesting euro-music on radiostations. You can't imagine how big a hit Jessica Folker's "Able to love" was. Wow, they kept requesting it. (on one station it's still no.9, and it's an old song). And D'Agostino's "Fly with you"? Americans love this song.
I experimened a few days ago. Our Politics teacher was late, so I gave my classmates to listen Euro IV Ever. Most of them liked it.(most of all "Life" and "Time"). Two guys and a girl asked me to copy the album for them on tapes. Soooooooo... He stands a chance here. I understand, that a few people I know don't make a big difference, but they represent ordinary American kids, so if they like it, others would too. I just feel sorry that such a good music is not shared with all the world.

Myra, you won't understand my reasons and my opinions until you're in my position. Do you have any idea how hard it is to get an official CD of a less popular artist here? It is absolutely impossible to get an official single, and the stores STILL don't have E4e in stock, and they can't even tell me when they'll have it, not even remotely. Maybe before New Years, maybe after, maybe by the time I finish school... and it's like that with everything here. At least the situation with concerts might improve now that the Saku Suurhall is operational (already had Roxette and Rammstein over), but you're very unlikely to understand why I say the things I say until you've walked a mile in my shoes. Do you think it's easy watching conversations about how great new releases are, and not having heard them? I never said I don't want to buy the official CD, but I'm not going to wait months for it to arrive. You might have friends in Universal Finland... do you think there's a Universal Estonia? No. It's up to the individual record stores to decide whether they want to import the CD's or not. And since isn't the most popular artist, they aren't willing to. Would you wait several months to hear the CD if it couldn't be bought officially at the time of the release?
And about not caring for the artist... Just bit me. |

Phoenix:
Gigi D'Agostino his song L'Amour Toujours (I'll Fly With You) is at the moment hitting the number 2 position in almost ALL our charts ... I said ... before the song was released ... that it would be a very big hit ... and I am sure that this song will be a hit everywhere ... and I don't think it is EURO POP or EURO DANCE ... in my eyes GG DAG is more a combination between "normal" dance and trance ...Correction ... the GG DAG songs which are released are a combination between DANCE and TRANCE ... because on his albums you also hear TECHNO ... so ...
And once again: FLASHER T
I do agree with you!!! (ofcourse I do agree with you!)
As you say ... they don't know when to get the CD albums or CD mini/maxi singles ... it is hard to be fan from an UNKNOWN artist! If you say here ... then there is nobody left who says CAMPIONE 2000 (#3 position) .. it is really sad to see ... and there is also nobody who says THIS IS THE WAY! (somewhere in the 20 ...)
There were some years that there was still a song of laying in the record stores ... that was SET THE WORLD ON FIRE ... they couldn't get that song out of it! Just because noone wanted to buy it!!!
And you Swedish/Danish/Norwegian/Finish people ... be HAPPY that you are living in a SCANDIVIAN country
which can get all YOUR favourite music from , Tess, Ace Of Base, Markoolio etc etc ...
If I wanna get ACE OF BASE ... then it is mostly IMPORT ... and most of the time they get the message that it is not available ... are it is not possible to get it ...
THINK HOW IT IS FOR A FAN TO RECEIVE THE MESSAGE THAT A RECORD STORE CANNOT GET YOUR FAVOURITE MUSIC!!! Think!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What would you do then?????????????????
See ya

Hi you all.
This is for ATL's last message, last part.
I'm sure it's hard for you to get music from Scandinavian countries and so. But instead of stealing the songs why don't you get someone from the country you're looking for and get them to buy it for you?
Thanks to etype.dk's message board and good contact with other fans I know many of the visitors has got their records sent to them when they live in a country were they can't get hold of the album.
Sure it can be expensive, but you can guess how expensive it is for the artists and record companies when you're stealing... You can be one of many who helps the music-industry to slowly die...
Just one way to think.
Regards

Chrissan: that's a good solution, but one that is not always appropriate. Currently the cost of an average CD in Tallinn is around 250EEK. The cost of E4E at CDON Suomi is 99FIM. That's about 270EEK. Plus postage (I don't think CDON has offices where you can pick a CD up). That's at least another 50EEK, if not more. Then there's shipping from Finland as a parcel (because by now it's too expensive to take the chance of it being damaged by the post). So if I was to ask Myra to send me a CD... well, I'd also have to pay my bank to do an international transfer to her account, or pay the post for a money transfer... I'd basically be paying twice the shop price of the CD. And I was hardly able to scrape together and put aside 250EEK for when it comes here. I'm not sure I'll even have the money to get my Dad a Christmas present. Not everyone can afford to have CD's sent to them. |

ATL, Gigi D'Agostino's "I'll Fly With You" is almost out of charts here, since for charts it's pretty old. It used to be #1 for 3 weeks and #3 for a month, then it went down, but it was in summer or the beggining of fall. Now on a few charts it's #12 and #15. I'm suprised that it's only gaining the top in your country, I thought they released the single in European countries first. But anyways, you didn't understand me by European music I meant not Euro-dance or anything. I was refering to European groups and artists. The thing is that here people listen only to American or Latin music. They think it's superior (as they think their country is superior). So it's very hard to find European music in stores, only the most known artist have a "privilege" to sell their albums here. But now, people start showing interest in European music, so I suggested that it was the best time for to introduce his music to American population. That was my point.
I played "Explorer" for my cousin 2 years ago. She was born in America and doesn't speak Russian, so she has totaly American tastes. Now, she's totally crazy about him, has all his albums and singles(she went to Sweden and bought everything). She works on TV and one of her coworkers liked as well. Just one more example. People like his music here. |

Phoenix:
Britney Spears is maybe an American girl ... but her songs are made in Sweden ... or by Swedish producers (most of the songs then) ... the same for more artists in America (like N SYNC, BACKSTREET BOYS ... etc)
Maybe you have forgotten something ... ACE OF BASE had for a long time the record of selling the most debut albums all over the world ... so AMERICA included!!! Guess that they like over there EUROPEAN music ... but not the whole time of the year or something like that ... whatever it is ... I guess that more people will like EUROPEAN music then you maybe are thinking now ...
About GIGI D'AGOSTINO ...
Here in the Netherlands "we" only have got often number one's from our own country ... those songs are mostly very stupid ... also songs from artists which are allready populair ... or who are making a big introduce to the people will reach the top here ...
GIGI is a person who needed to fight to get known here ... because LA PASSION was a hit (not top 10 ... but between 10 and 15) ... and SUPER wasn't ... before those 2 songs ... nobody had heard from the name GIGI D'AGOSTINO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now everyone knows him because of his song L'AMOUR TOUJOURS ... which is pretty old as you said! And thanx to that song I have won today a price by the way :):):)!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But anyway ... to come back at this "song-problem"
it is all about promotion ...
If an artist has got a lot of promotion around his or her new album or single ... then it will hit the top ... otherwhise you can forget it! That is how it goes here ... and I guess that is almost everywhere like that! so ... what needs ... is PROMOTION!!!
(for countries outside Scandinavia then!)
See ya!

Hi guys.
E-type has said in one (or more) interviews here in Sweden that he will only go for Sweden right now, and I think that meens that he knows about the call for him in other "old" fan-countries of him but will wait for that.
I think it's just to wait and see.
Nice discussion this is. First a question for records, then a discussion about stealing and burning songs, then about 's promotion... I'm sure this can go on for ever....

Hehe... I'm sure that's what the staff wants us to do - drag this out forever. The forum has been awfully boring lately ;)
Anyway, I'll go to Lasering today and ask them if they have it, or if not, whether they can import it. If I don't get the album by the end of the week (when I'll hopefully have the new PC), I'll just burn it all. |

You just burn it all.
ATL said, the artist needs the promotion.
You just burn it all to be sure that the record company won't get any money for the promotion.
weehaa!

What have I been saying the last four or five posts? I'd be more than happy to buy the official CD (infact when it comes, I will), but if they decide not to ship it here for the time being, it's not my problem, it's THEIR problem. I mean, offer me an alternative? Pay twice the price to have it imported? No thanks. |

Stockmann told me today that the album hits mainland Estonia tomorrow, and will be on the shelves by the end of the week. However, this doesn't change my attitude towards this whole matter. I'll buy it, of course, but if Stockholm Records doesn't give a shit about me, then I don't give a shit about Stockholm Records.
PS. The irony just dawned on me. I'm getting E4E before ATL? Wow. |

Arjen,
I just went to cdon Holland, and I noticed that they're stupid, and the only CDON that don't accept cash on delivery. Anyway, I'm sure your mom or dad has a creditcard, do you think they could help you to order it?
maybe worth a try?

Myra:
1) I don't have a daddy anymore for 1,5 years
2) In the Netherlands it is completely not normal to have a MASTERCARD or VISA!!! Normal people don't have those kind of things! And it is very risky to have those things! I questioned several people about it ... so ...
I will never buy things by INTERNET! It is clear for me now! I can never do that!!!
Here we are used to pay with some kind of bills!
Then you ask them to send a kind of paper with it ... and then you will fill that paper ... and you will bring it to your bank ... thats what we do!
So .............. guess I will never be happy :(
The only happy thing was that I was on the radio yesterday and won 40 guilders for my cellular phone! :)
See ya later!

ATL: We get the paper also with the thing we order. I kinda thought you could get that too.
And first, congratulations for winning, and secondly, I'm sorry for the dad thing, how could I have known.
I wish you luck on getting the legal version of the album.. I don't know how you're planning to get it, but I'm sure it's better than burning it.
And you're right, people should care about SR. Flasher T, what do you mean by "if they don't care about me..."? Why should they care? Have you ever contacted them to ask about the releases in Estonia, do they even know you exist? How would you notice if they care or not? I really didn't understand the whole thing.
stupid me.
