Two Questions:
1. Does anyone here know if Martin plays any instruments? Anyone seen him play any during a concert (piano, guitar, whatever)?
2. I've never heard speak :-(, but I wonder whether he sounds the same as when he is singing. I think it's very interesting the way pronounces the "s" sound. It sounds to me like a mixture between "s" and "th" (more in some songs than in others).

1) Martin started out as a drummer in his early career (among other things) and still is pretty good at it. Not as good as Mikkey Dee, but then, who is? Martin did a drum solo at the E4E tour and a duet with Mikkey on the Metal tour.
2) I've heard him speak to the crowd a lot, but it was in Swedish, so I didn't understand a thing. Pronunciation didn't sound strange at all though. You have to remember that to singers, people with a good ear for music, their voice is an instrument that they can manipulate. A lot of Scandinavian bands sing in very good English, but when you see interviews, they have distinct accents. |

Hi!
I do know for a fact from some interviews Martin has made both with Swedish and Danish press that he started out in his very early days where he learned to play the piano ... he's never played piano at a concert though, but he does know how to play it.
It's also correct everything that Flasher said about Martin starting his career as a drummer and the E4E & Metal Tour - he started out in bands like Maninya Blade and Hexenhouse (this band was once told it was the fastest metal band in Europe). I can tell you one other thing about the Metal Tour ... at the premiere concert in Gothenburg back in January, Martin also grabbed a guitar and jammed away during the concert which sounded really awesome, so he does know how to play the guitar as well :)
As to your second question ... I have had the pleasure of speaking to Martin several times now and we've always done it in English as he has difficulty understanding Danish and I have a little difficulty understanding Swedish, so in order for us to understand eachother is by speaking English ... and I have to say that he does speak very good English although with a slight Swedish accent - but I guess that's the case with most people these days (accents, I mean) ... but I haven't experienced the s/th thing, you wrote about, Andy ... to me it seems pretty perfect when Martin speaks :))
Hope this helped :)

Andy, what d'you meat by this s/th thing? Actually I pronounce "s" it the same way he does. at least I don't see any difference although I've got perfect yer for such things like music, for instance. |
